DENPASAR, STIGMA.CO.ID – To enhance cooperation and gratitude between TNI AD, in particular Kodam IX/Udayana, with the United States Army, Kasdam IX/Udayana Briggen TNI Sachono, S.H., M.Si., M.Tr. (Han), representing P.I.E.P.D., received an honorable visit of the delegation of the American Armed Forces on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Makodam IX/Udayana,Denpasar.
Deputy Commanding General I Corps, MG. Matthew Mcfarlane, accompanied by Assistant Training Casad Majjen TNI Dwi Darmadi, S.Sos., M.Ip., was welcomed by Kasdam IX/Udayana along with staff with the initiation of the reception of honor from the Security Service of Makodam IX/Udayana.
The honorable visit this time is a series of activities, Army Staff Talk TA 2023, between TNI AD and the American Army in the Province of Bali in the Guest Room of Pangdam IX/Udayana. On the occasion, MG. Matthew Mcfarlane thanked the Chief of the Army, in particular Kodam lX/Udayana, for his welcome and then introduced the accompanying troops, including Lieutenant Colonel Brian N. Vega, Athan of the United States Embassy, and First Class Sergeant Winston Wiliams.
In addition to congratulations, MG. Matthew Mcfarlane also conveyed his purpose of coming to Makodam IX/Udayana in order to carry out the Army Staff Talk TA 2023 activities in Bali. “May the joint exercises between the Armed Forces of the two countries go well, safely, and smoothly,” he hoped.
Meanwhile, Kasdam lX/Udayana welcomed and thanked the United States Army Delegation for their visit to Kodam IX/Udayana, as well as introduced the accompanying staff officers, such as Irdam IX/Utayana, Kapoksahli Pangdam IX/Udayana, Asrendam IX/Udayana, and the Kasdam Assistants lX/Udayana.
In a full-fledged event, Kasdam briefly explained the global conditions of Kodam lX/Udayana geographical territory, which includes three provinces, namely Bali Province, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara, which borders with the State of Timor-Leste (RDTL).
“It becomes one of the core tasks of Kodam lX/Udayana, which is to carry out border security between Indonesia and Timor-Leste,” he added.
In addition, Kasdam said that Gusti Ngurah Rai was an Indonesian military figure who served in the War of Independence. He was the founder and first commander of the Republic of Indonesia Armed Forces unit in the Small Sundays, which directly led the anti-Dutch armed resistance in Bali.
Kasdam further explains about Udayana as an icon of Kodam IX/Udayana because the succession of King Udayana in the development of Bali culture from the philosophical, religious, social, cultural, legal, gender, and political aspects of his excellent rule also spread its influence to the territory of Nusa Tenggara, so the name of King Udayana was chosen as the name for the Military District Command in Bali and Nusa Tenggara, which is now called Kodam IX/Udayana.
